Well done

Dargai, Spot on.

I will get working on learning this. A great tune, and as it has been played by The Chieftains (with great enthusiasm!) I think it is well worthy of inclusion in the ITM canon.

Boffyflow And Spike, X:2

I’ve transcribed it from the Chieftains recording, with the 3rd part which is missing in zebedee version:
Emix is the key The Chieftains play it in; not a problem for fiddlers (and less if usually playing Donegal tunes, often in A), but there’s the funny trick of the sharp Gs

Re: Boffyflow And Spike X:2

Ooooops, something wrong in my previous comment… there were smileys icons in my text, what seems to give problems … that I cannot change … I try again the whole text:

I’ve transcribed it from the Chieftains recording, with the 3rd part which is missing in zebedee version:
Emix is the key The Chieftains play it in; not a problem for fiddlers (and less if usually playing Donegal tunes, often in A), but there’s the funny trick of the sharp Gs for wind instruments, what needs the G# key on flute and pipes and half closed hole on D whistles.
As (not only) a pipes and whistle player, I’ve tried several transpositions to solve the problem, but there’s always one (at least) note which is out of the natural scale; finally I came back to the Chieftains’ version.
zebedee’s version (one tone lower, in D) is another option, but with natural F’s in the 2nd part and flat B’s and natural F’s in the 3rd part (that I have added too, see X:3). I’ll try it for fun and practicing, as I still use the Bb key on my pipes for (not irish) other tunes.
Anyway, when OK with the G#s, it’s great fun to play it (and even more if we’re several to shout didling the 2nd part as the Chieftains do! ).

Re: Boffyflow And Spike

Is nobody going to give credit to the composer of this, - a certain Van Morrison ?

Boffyflow And Spike, X:3

X:3 version is the whole zebedee one (X:1) with the 3rd part which is missing in his version, that I get from the Chieftains recording (see X:2) and transposed. I’ve also change the key of the 2nd part: the tune is actually in 3 different keys, for each part.

Re: Boffyflow And Spike

For answer to Kenny "Is nobody going to give credit to the composer of this, - a certain Van Morrison ?"
Ooooops again ! Yes, you’re quite right. I was completely dived in the explanations of my add, and as "Van Morrisson" is actually well mentioned as the composer in my abc file’s head,  I didn’t took care of this missing: we can only copy here the body of the abc file …
I presume that was the same for zebedee 😉

… and I transcribed the original ‘Sense of Wonder’ version…
