Johnny Don’t Come Home Drunk
American old-timey reel. There are very many versions of this tune - the setting that I’ve posted is based on the version as played at the Hillgrove Porter Stores pub old-timey session, Bristol, UK.
A nice YouTube take here - played by Marcy Marxer (cello banjo) and Cathy Fink (5-string banjo).
Their version is similar to the setting that I’ve posted, except that they are playing it in CMaj, not DMaj.
This was the first tune I ever learned on the fiddle, back in about 1985. This is pretty close to the tune I remember, but most American fiddlers would use lots of open a and d drones. I added the title I learned it under. Thanks for posting.
Re: Johnny Don’t Come Home Drunk
Played here by the Jig Mad Wolf Ceilidh Band for a dance called "The Holmfirth Square"
(Second tune in the set is "The Hopeful Lover")
