Popular jam-session tune that I first heard in 2002 at a fiddler-slow-session event in Castro Valley, California.
Cherokee Shuffle, X:2
Similar to the E. Kentucky old-time tune, "Lost Indian" but more popular in a bluegrass setting where it’s usually played as a fast reel (never a hornpipe.) The X:2 setting I’ve posted here is referred to as a "crooked" tune because it has ten bars in the B part instead of the usual eight. When played "square" both A and B parts have eight bars. Occasionally both parts are played with the extra two measures or even alternated.
