One of the ‘Common Tunes for Scottish Sessions’ compiled by the Boston Scottish Fiddle Club, Spring 2015.
Notation from John Chambers abc website (http://trillian.mit.edu/~jc/tmp/Tune-12515.abc).
The Fiddler’s Companion (http://www.ibiblio.org/fiddlers/LAS_LAZ.htm) supplies the following:
Composed by Scottish national champion fiddler Arthur Scott Robertson…. Laxo Burn was his favourite (sea) trout-fishing stream in the Shetlands. Laxo Burn flows into Laxo Voe. The ‘A’ part is shared with “The Chamberlain,” “Reel à/de Rémi,” and “Reel de l’hôtelier,” however, the ‘B’ part appears original to Robertson. Miller (Fiddler’s Throne), 2004; No. 192, pg. 121.
Great tune! Here’s a clip of Jenna Reid playing it, at about 2 minutes 30 secs: https://youtu.be/4IXZWoJgzX0
I’m not sure if John Chambers’ temporary "tmp" directory goes away over time, so here’s a more persistent link for the tune: http://trillian.mit.edu/~jc/music/abc/Scotland/reel/LaxoBurn_D.abc
Laxo Burn, X:2
X2 is the setting Arthur Scott Robertson published in his five-volume collection of his compositions in the mid-1980s. He also recorded it on his 1991 album.
ID of the first tune in "Set"
Anyone know the name of the first tune in this set … before Laxo Burn? ( if so … session number ?)
Jenna Reid is truly a remarkable player,

ID of the first tune in “Set”
There are two tunes before Laxo Burn in the set (the one in the video anyway), they are
- Archie Neil Chisholm by Brenda Stubbert , which isn’t in the Session database yet
- Trip To Miriam’s by Colin Farrell which is here
Jenna is playing a different variation of the tune though.
