This great jig – that I play often – appears in O’Neill’s Dance Music of Ireland - 1001 Gems (1907), p. 26, no. 61, as The Humors of Whiskey, Sugra Na Uisge-Beata.
The Fiddler’s Companion says : “Flood (1906) reports that it was recorded by the Belfast Northern Star of July 15th, 1792, as one of the tunes having been played in competition by one of ten Irish harp masters at the last great ancient Irish harpers convocation, the Belfast Harp Festival, held that week.”
I hope you’ll enjoy this jig as much as I do.
