“Sir Wilfrid Laurier’s” ( march / jig )

Listed in the Stubbert book as a single jig and notated as 12/8… There may be some confusion of this with another tune as a ‘march’, used for ‘square dancing’, also notated as either 6/8 or 12/8, but I haven’t as yet chased anything of to positively confirm or refute that? 😏 I’m still looking and listening… Somewhere I have both takes on this by Donna Hinds and by Jean Carignan. As I understand it both the jig and the march by this name are related, but possibly at a distance?

I’ll be back! 😉

This tune is a very popular square dance tune in Cape Breton. Always played as you would hear a 6/8 jig.

Been there, lived there, done that, including playing and dancing with and to Brenda & Natalie… 😉
