The Black Rose

This is NOT a waltz but, rather, a slow air. There is no such designation here.

I could not add this version to the existing page for Roisin Dubh because of the time signature, but it is the same tune. This is just the very basic tune without any embellishments.

Joanie Madden has a marvelous version of this on the "Song of the Irish Whistle" album (track 8), which is where I first heard it. Because it is an air, if done as a solo (or accompanied), the timing isn’t so critical and the whistler’s feel for the melody can be expressed fully. This is what I really like about this beautiful tune.
