Composed by Rev. Hugh A. MacDonald, while passing through Creignish Cape Breton.
Just found out from the man himself, Ashley MacIssac was actually the main composer of this tune. Fr. Hugh thought of the first few notes, Ashley made the rest, but never bothered to copywright it, or claim ownership. I didn’t get all the details, but it’s rarely attributed to him.
Re: Creignish Hills
Wow, Joe, I didn’t know that! I do love the tune. Thought Fr. Hugh wrote it while he was a priest here, but maybe I’m mixing him up with another priest…Your transcription is perfect!
