Well May Charlie Wear The Crown

This is a slow air and the notation says to play it solemnly slow. Jeremy Kittel does a really dark and broody version of this tune, that has become popular recently at our session.

I found a version in the Captain S Fraser of Knockie’s Highland Collection (new version) 1874 that I present here. The title page claims that the tunes were "Chiefly acquired during the interesting Period from 1715 to 1745," so this dates from before the 45 rising in Scotland.

Here’s my transcription of the way Jeremy plays it on his Celtic Fiddle album.
