I wonder what the history behind this tune is, whether it is trad or was composed by a member of the Tannahill Weavers? The link in the first comment doesn’t seem to be working for me.

The Inverness Collection of Highland Music was published in Edinburgh in three parts in 1888 and John is the band fiddler John Martin.
