Myr Hooyl Mee Magh Moghrey Laa Boaldyn has been added to 4 tunebooks.
A Manx tune from the Clague collection, from Tom Kermode of Bradda
Over on Shooyl Inneenyn’s page, it’s suggested that Shooyl Inneenyn is two separate tunes. This one appears to be the first part.
I didn’t see Shawn’s post but this is one part of the tune Shooyl Inneenyn, used for a ‘traditional’ dance of the same name put together in the 20th century.
This tune is one of several in the Manx collections used for an ‘As I roved out’ type of ballad. There are a couple of variations in the Manx material, both of the tune and the title, and many variations if you look further afield. The Manx title translates as: ‘When/As I went out [on] May Day morning’.
