The Sail-Maker’s Wife

Tune I picked up at a session a while back that stuck in my head. Some significant similarity in the A part to Trip to Sligo. As for the tune called Sailor’s Wife, it shares some octave jumps, but otherwise a very different melodic contour. The only place I’ve heard it recorded is on a video from Niamh Ni Charra — does anyone know if this is her own composition?

Re: The Sail-Maker’s Wife

According to Niamh Ni Charra in the sleeve notes of her album ‘Happy Out’, "it is apparently a Co. Louth tune from a chant or working song".
