Munsterman’s Rambles

This is the jig Connaughtman’s Rambles (https://thesession.org/tunes/19) in polka form, with a few variations and a lovely simplistic Sliabh Luachra touch. The version posted here is from the playing of the talented Eoin O’Sullivan, a member of an All-Ireland winning trio, and John Walsh, a venerable composer in his own right.
The two put out a few tracks on a lovely learner’s CD from O’Sullivan’s Scully’s Fest, where they combine this with the Low Polka, not yet posted to this site, another of Mr. Walsh’s contributions.
You can hear the set here:

I like to put this one with the three part "Scartaglen Polka" (https://thesession.org/tunes/1764).

The nice thing about a simple melody like this is that there is a lot of room for ornaments. I’ve added a little bit, but as Patrick Keeffe was fond of saying (and I paraphrase), "Anyone who plays a tune the same way through over and over again is just as good as a separator". Enjoy.
