Alec Menzies

Taken from Brid Harper’s amazing album this is a "Clog". She got it from Jerry Holland and its by Charles Duff of Dundee (1760-1822).

Re: Alec Menzies

It’s a terrific tune! In both Charles Duff’s Collection (1792) and on Jerry Holland’s album A Session with Jerry Holland (1990), it’s played in the key of G. Also, in the Duff collection it’s described as a hornpipe. I haven’t heard Brid Harper’s version, but Jerry Holland’s is fantastic. Thank you, Donough.
