It could be a Paddy O’Brien Tune, heard it on the recording of Dan Gurney and Dylan Foley, also on a CD from Colin Nea.
Yes, this is a Paddy O’ Brien tune, though tastefully modified, presumably by Gurney and Foley. O’ Brien called it "Young Dan’s" (which is here on The Session, in a setting closer to the one in the book of O’ Brien’s tunes, published in 1992 by J.D.C. Publications, Troon, Ayrshire.)
Actually, Dan Gurney got it from Seamus Connolly, who recorded it on a solo track on the duo album Banks of the Shannon (with Paddy O’Brien). It’s on Dan’s solo album as well as on the duo album with Dylan.
Just to make it clear, this is not a Paddy O’Brien composition.
