If you cut out the repeats, this reminds of a nursery rhyme I learned as a kid, seems to go back several hundred years. Makes a good dance tune though:

I love this tune. Played in Cape Breton as a strathspey (seven out of twelve recordings currently listed are Cape Breton), though I know it is in at least one book as a reel. I think it’s in the Athole collection, it is also in oneof Kinnon Beaton’s tunebooks. Link to a Dave MacIsaac Cape Breton setting:
