Here’s a rollicking reel that waits until its second part to release that juicy tertian action between Dmaj and its relative Bmin.
This one’s by Cape Breton fiddler Andrea Beaton of the esteemed Beaton family, and can be heard as the penultimate tune in a set on her album "Branches." The set itself is called "The Number Nine," which starts with a strathspey of the same name, also composed by Ms. Beaton.
I don’t know the story behind the title, although I bet it’s a good one, or at least one that is steeped in some regionally-specific history. Reckon I’ll find out when I get around to purchasing the tunebook of hers that includes all of the tunes on "Branches" that she composed herself: https://andreabeaton.com/music.htm
