St Giles’ Cathedral
With apologies to John Sheehan…
After admiring “Christchurch Cathedral” (https://thesession.org/tunes/6249) and “St Patrick’s Cathedral” (https://thesession.org/tunes/11778), I thought Edinburgh’s 14th century St Giles’ Cathedral should have a similar tribute. I’ve tried to emulate the “feel” of Sheehan’s tunes with their nods to baroque and sacred music; whether I succeeded will be decided by others.
Re: St Giles’ Cathedral
Already know and love John Sheahan’s 2 Cathedral tunes (and others) and have played both in another of Edinburgh’s cathedrals, St Mary’s Episcopalian Cathedral.
Looks a nice new tune, so will give it a try: might have it ready to play for Cafe Ceilidh (CC) at the Scottish Story-telling Centre in June, for the Auld Toon Festival: just a few yards away from St Giles’ Cathedral. We always try to play some tunes with an Edinburgh connection.
Will be playing “Christ Church Cathedral” on March 14th for the St Patrick’s Day themed CC.
