The Flats Of Libby

Adding a harmony to the B section the second time through, and an additional harmony the third time through really adds depth and character to this tune. I’d be happy to provide ABC notation for the harmonies, as well as what we’ve used as an intro/transition.

The Flats Of Libby, X:2

Don’t need all the accidentals - much easier to read like taht.
Where does it come from?

Re: The Flats Of Libby

Swisspiper, thanks for your comments. I’m new to ABC notation and this is my first attempt at capturing a tune. I relied (perhaps too heavily) on EasyABC - hence the extra accidentals. I’ll look to see if there’s a setting in EasyABC that can help, or try different software. Any suggestions?

I’m also relatively new to this genre of music and this is my third attempt at writing a tune. I gather from other sources that it would be best if I try to contribute to the collection of traditional tunes prior to submitting any of my other tunes - which seems reasonable to me.

Re: The Flats Of Libby

Nice chune anyway!

it’s more about musical notation - I you define it as in the key of Bmin you get the two # for F and C and so you do not have to mark them.
and _d (bD) is equal to C….Generally you write everything with # not b when the main key is one with # (1 or more)
Good luck.

Re: The Flats Of Libby

Yes, Brian! Do post the harmonies. I always enjoy when we can try some interesting variations with a tune. Thanks from Jennifer who lives in the "Libby" neighborhood, near the Coal Bank slough.

Re: The Flats Of Libby

This approximates the third time through the B part. Disclaimer: I’m still a beginner with ABC notation…
