Sligo Then And Now has been added to 5 tunebooks.
This Martin Wynne composition comes from Bill Black: http://www.capeirish.com/webabc/working/source.folders/mvbt/mvbt_pdf/194sligo.pdf
I first found it in an old Treoir — they got it via Bill too. Tried playing it into TunePal and Bill’s version came up. He gave me permission to repost it here. When Bill got it from Martin, Martin had no name for it. Bill suggested "Sligo Then And Now" and Martin did not object.
I just came across it in "Treoir". Nice tune, never been recorded as far as we know, although it does sound slightly familiar.
Just checked with Brian Conway. He says Martin wrote it in F. Think they’ve been been calling it Martin Wynne’s #5. More soon…
Still trying to sort this out, now thinking Martin Wynne’s #5 is actually a different MW composition.
And further… actually, Brian had the right of it, it’s just a very different take on this tune. Still studying.
This is in Oisín Mac Diarmada’s tune book as MW no.5
