This tune was transcribed from the fiddling of Paul Wukitsch on the album "Bras d’Or House". This is yet another offshoot, this time a Scottish and/or Cape Breton one, of the "John Roy Stewart" tune family which includes "Maude Miller" and "Julia Delaney", among others. This tune is basically the first part of "Maude Miller" with the second part of "Julia Delaney". Note that Alan Snyder maintains this as a distinct tune in his Cape Breton Fiddle Recording Index.
