Paddy Fahey’s

This is a Fahey Tune from Oisin McAuley’s album, “Far From the Hills of Donegal”, track five, first tune. I couldn’t find another setting for this tune on the session.

Re: Paddy Fahey’s

another hypnotic masterpiece

Eddie Kelly’s jig #2

I have just added the above “alternate” name as I have been recently in touch with Eilis Crean who recorded that tune under that name on her album “Searbh Siucra”* and said to me that this tune is not a composition of Paddy Fahey but an Eddie Kelly’s one. This is corroborated by the words of Maria Holohan in her 1995 thesis on Paddy Fahey’s work :
“This tune which I got from Paddy in 1995 is, I just discovered, either a simplified setting of the Eddie Kelly’s jig which I have included (ses p. 297) or perhaps Eddie ‘s tune was a development of a Fahey idea years ago. This is the only tune of which the origin is as yet unclear.”
