Dingieshowe Dancers

This reel’s by Jennifer Wrigley and Dingieshowe’s a place in Orkney, close to Deerness, which has a beach and a
knowe (ancient mound, once a defensive settlement?). The Dancers would be the little people inside the
mound.

The tune’s often played in Orkney and can be heard in Jenny’s fiddle classes. It’s good to up the speed and
play it at a good brisk pace.

Re: Dingieshowe Dancers

Jenny Wrigley gives permission for her tunes to be posted - a few others are here including The Fifth Flight, Magnus Waltz, Eynhallow Soond, The Trowie Dart, Rohan, Miss Sarah McFadyen.

Re: Dingieshowe Dancers

Sadly, Jenny and Hazel Wrigley’s music school, music shop, bar and cafe "The Reel" has gone into debt because of Covid. The sisters had to move out as the short-sighted Council refused to let them have a rent-holiday. The old house stands empty, in a poor state, and the stupid Council is NO BETTER OFF. The Reel was such an asset to Orkney and many folk worked so hard to make it a success. Last I heard Jenny owed £16,000. Any donations would be welcome, as they hope to restart at a cheaper venue. "The Reel" is selling off a lot of stuff online at low prices!

NB Hazel has written 2 or 3 nice tunes too, one posted on thesession "Way Oot West" if I rightly recall name.
