Asturian tune transcribed from the album IV by Llan de Cubel. Originally in Bb.
Second tune of the set.
I love this tune from the Llan de Cubel album. But it sounds more to me like it would be classed as a slip jig rather than a jig.
Hi Whimbrel. You’re absolutely right, I’ve corrected it now.
Here’s a new recording, it looks like the older video was removed from YouTube.
The tune starts around 1:30
Composed by Elias Garcia [RIP] of "Llan de Cubel".
Sleeve notes : "The following tune possesses the typical characteristics of the Asturian "pasucais" - street marches - although with an infrequent rhythm ( 9/8 instead of 6/8 ). As we composed it when spending some days in the house of John Martin, the famous fiddler from Edinburgh, we dedicate it to him in appreciation of his hospitality. ( "Xuan Martin" is John Martin re-named in the Asturian language )".
Thanks Kenny! I knew it was one of Elias’ but didn’t know the story.
