The New Fiddle

A pretty popular and, frankly, pretty awesome Cape Breton jig composed by Dan R. MacDonald. I love how this tune waffles between mixolydian and dorian, and the beginning with its D-sharp is very distinctive. A great tune to celebrate a new fiddle with.

Re: The New Fiddle

I transcribed it primarily from the playing of Natalie and Buddy MacMaster on their great duet album.

The New Fiddle, X:2

This is the way I learned it - all scales and arpeggios. Differing from the Jerry Holland Second Collection version (p 100) only in the first measure, going down the E scale.
