The Yellow Horse

Lovely jig that leads off the Alan Reid and Rachel Conlon album A Quare Yield. The liner notes say it’s from Joyce’s Old Irish Folk Music and Song (https://www.itma.ie/joyce/book/old-irish-folk-music-and-songs-part-1). But none of the three tunes called The Yellow Horse in that book really match up with it. The closest one melodically is the 2/4 Yellow Horse on p. 133 (#280). So here’s my impression of what they’re playing — can’t get this tune out of my head!

The Yellow Horse, X:2

From the playing of Robert Harvey.

Transposed from Fmaj.

Re: The Yellow Horse

It’s actually from Stanford/Petrie, #577 and it doesn’t look like ITMA included it in Port for the Joyce tunes. Here’s a link to the Tune Archive, just copy the last parenthesis manually:

Re: The Yellow Horse

I edited to test, and adding an extra ")" makes the link work, so don’t copy the extra one.
