Re: Hjogravylta

A pretty Shetland tune. Thanks.

Re: Hjogravylta

Interesting tune. Its rhythmic profile is akin to many a Northern march (viz. In the ‘Orange’ mould) .
Could easily be turned into a 6/8….

Re: Hjogravylta

maybe Fetlar?
…surely Fetlar
Maurice Henderson left this comment:

《 The tunes accompanying the footage are traditional Shetland tunes ‘Da Oyster’ from Whalsay, and two Fetlar tunes, Hjogravylta and Garster’s Dream. The Fetlar tunes were both played by fiddle players who were at the Haaf fishing, sailing and rowing sixareens in the 19th century. David Hart was towsman working the tows or halyard, and a great fiddler. Hjogravylta was the name of his croft. 》
