The Duchess Of Buccleuch’s Favourite

This was published in Niel Gow’s 4th Collection of 1800. This particular setting is transcribed from the playing of Alison Kinnaird from her 1978 album The Harp Key. She plays it slowly, as Gow intended, but in the key of C, which suits he rinstrument better.

More than 150 years later, the tune is popular with Scottish dance bands in a modified setting (X:2). My notated setting is from the John Macgregor Band (Invitation to a Scottish Dance, c1979).
