Balcomie House

Nice tune found in the recent clear out of manuscript. Its a two-step rather than a jig and I have not been able to find out who composed it. I’ve put it in a set with The Fourth of february (Charlie Sherrit) and H.G.Abek’s Fancy (Jim MacLeod).

Re: Balcomie House

I think it was first published (in the key of F) in 1963 by the RSCDS with no composer credited, but a note that it was from the "Wightman Collection," which is housed in Dundee public library, consisting of books, broadsides and manuscripts. Incidentally, the third tune in your set is called "H G Abel’s Fancy".

Re: Balcomie House

Sorry Nigel.
Typo and poor proof reading.

Well that’s a nice reminder of a lovely tune. Haven’t played it for a long time now, but used to play it (in F) in a set with Light and Airy
