One Hundred And Seventy Four

I found this on the internet and the guy who plays it said it was a random find of a book of O Carolan tunes and this was in it. Anyone with more information , please contribute. Thanks.

Re: One Hundred And Seventy Four

David Hanson is the man playing this tune with his group on mandolin, octave mandolin and English concertina. The tune is called One Seventy four. I have the title slightly wrong and don’t know how to alter it. Maybe Jeremy you might assist —Thanks.

Re: One Seventy Four

I too got the tune from David Hansen’s playing; it is one of my favorites. I have it in a complete collection of OCarolan tunes. It is from a small section of unnamed tunes included in the book; they are designated by number rather than name.

Re: One Seventy Four

Its in " The complete works of O’Carolan irish harper and composer 1680-1738
from Ossia n Publications ISBN 0 946005 16 8
I use this book quite often

One Seventy Four, X:2

I hope this might be of some use to D flute players. It’s my transcription of the playing of David Hanson who introduced me to this O’Carolan tune on his mandolin website. It also includes his intro.
