Polwart On The Green

From Thomson "Orpheus Caledonius (1733)". A song tune and an air (not a reel), cheerful, catchy tune. Like Cromlits Lilt it was set by James Oswald for his Sonata on Scots Tunes.

Polwart On The Green, X:2

Very nice tune! Thank you for uploading.

I added a version by Willian McGibbon from his Scots Tunes, book III, p. 81 (1762). More versions and variations can be found here https://tunearch.org/wiki/Polwart_on_the_Green as well as extensive information about the tune here https://tunearch.org/wiki/Annotation:Polwart_on_the_Green

Chris Norman (wooden flutist) recorded it as part of the "Sonata of Scots Tunes" with Concerto Caledonia and Chatham Baroque (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMk1fuuFUiY)
