Written by Vincent Broderick, it can be heard on Cherish the Ladies "New Day Dawning".

Goes well when played after "Around the Fairy Fort" (also composed by Vincent Broderick).

"The New Broom" ~ "New Brooms for Old" ~ under the Harry Potter influence?

~ or just plain potty… Here’s a bit of fun with this one, first repeating the transcription here and then dancing through two takes, the next reductionary and then the last contrary to that ~ 😎

The New Broom

"Buy a Broom" - not sure if this is same tune? There are a few similarities. Please excuse any errors in transcribing.

Re: The New Broom

aka "Buy a Broom". May be a quite different tune, but I can see vague similarities…

Re: The New Broom

Completely different tune.

Re: The New Broom

Kenny, you’re most prob. right, the "broom" title made me think they might be connected The tune I put in Abc was to do with a "broom"?… Am pretty sure tune I posted is Irish.

Re: The New Broom

Doesn’t matter. It’s not the barndance composed by Vincent Broderick which has been here for 17 years.. "Probably" doesn’t come in to it. It’s up to you as the person posting the tune to check whether or not what you’re posting is a "setting" of a tune already here, or a different tune altogether.

"The Turoe Stone - A collection of traditional tunes composed by the renowned Galway Fluter, Vincent Broderick" :
"The New Broom" - "Barndance" - second tune on page 14.

Re: The New Broom

I was of course commenting on whatever Susan posted.

Re: The New Broom

I agree about that mazurka similarity, it’s the first thing I thought when I heard the opening bars. Susan’s tune certainly doesn’t belong here, but I’m not even sure where I’d put it!

Re: The New Broom

I’ll see if I can find out its actual title, Gobby. Have a good day. Still snow in Glasgow, so radiators have to be on..

Re: The New Broom

"Oh it’s BUY A BROOM, I said so above, had forgotten. I’m not a good cut and paster for a new tune.
