Asiatic has been added to 2 tunebooks.
Written by John Malchair (1729 - 1812), leader of the band at the Holywell Music Room, Oxford - he played the fiddle. He was also a watercolour artist and very good at that. Another of his tunes is "Round About the Maypole" and he also noted down "Magpie Lane" after hearing a man whistle it in the street. He was born in Cologne.
A very pleasant polka. This is sort of 1/2 German and 1/2 English as tune written by a German who spent a lot of his life in Oxford spanning 18th and 19th centuries.
