Re: Le Reel De Bergeville

@NfldWhistler - you have misspelled the title - the town is Bergeville, not Bergerville. I have fixed it for you.

Re: Le Reel De Bergeville

PS You may be saying it wrong too: the name is pronounced (roughly) "Bairj-vil" with a soft "j" or "zh" sound.

Re: Le Reel De Bergeville

That’s quite possible, my french is limited. Thanks for pointing it out!

Re: Le Reel De Bergeville

Actually the title given by the composer Adélard Thomassin is "Reel de Bergerville." He recorded it at least three times, once with Ensemble Gilbert Trudel in 1968, once on an album called Musique traditionnelle pour la danse, Région de Québec and once on an album of his own compositions which is available at:
https://www.quebecfolklore.qc.ca/product/adelard-thomassin-mes-compositions-du-bois-gomin-au-chemin-du-foulon/
Bergerville is a district in Sillery (near Quebec City) where M. Thomassin is from. The name Bergeville (which as far as I can tell is not a place) has become associated with the tune, possibly due to someone making a typo that didn’t get caught. (Thanks to Daniel Roy for supplying some of this information).
Whatever it’s called, it’s a great tune.

Good to know, thank you Paul.
