A simple but delightful little reel from James Byrne. Note that he plays it with 24 bars, 8 for the first part and 16 for the second part. The double stops as well as the key change are lovely.
I’ve made some changes to the transcription which I think will improve it. I’ve put the whole thing in A major even though the first part starts in D, because in truth all the Gs are sharp. I also made the repeats more concise.
I wonder what the history of this tune is? I wish the Bandcamp version of "The Beirneach" had digital liner notes…
