Seals In The Town

Self penned. There’s a story to this one … presently, the small town of Roddickton-Bide Arm (Newfoundland), is being overrun by seals. Inspired to write a tune after reading the news, thought "what better type of tune for Newfoundland than a ‘single’?"

Given the story, many names fit for the tune title: "The Camouflaged Seals", "Seals Overrunning The Town", "The Lost Seals", and "The Confused Seals", etc. etc..

This Nfld single has elements of Paddy’s Jig, Who Stole the Miner’s Hat?, and probably a few other Newfoundland singles + Irish polkas.

Haven’t come across any Newfoundland tunes in Bminor yet (and not sure why?), which is a friendly key on the high-D whistle, so here’s one! Works down in Eminor, but, in which case the following alternative in the 7th bar (Bmin version) is kinder for whistlers: |dc A/B/c|.

Seals In The Town, X:2

A different set of pick-up notes, an alternative in the 7th bar (both parts), and a few extra runs in the B Part.
