Re: Mac Moran’s

According to Alan Ng’s irishtune.info site, this jig was composed by Jerry Holland, so I’ve added that attribution.

I can’t help but think that the proper spelling should be Mac Morin’s, in honor of the brilliant Cape Breton piano player. But I don’t have a source for Jerry Holland’s titling of the tune.

There is this: https://tunearch.org/wiki/Annotation:Mac_Morin%27s_Jig

And it’s listed as Mac Morin’s in Mr. Holland’s second collection of tunes published by Cranford: https://www.cranfordpub.com/book_indexes/JH2_index.htm.

Finally, here it is played by the man himself (first tune): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_t2aCNqldoY

Aye, gimpy, it is indeed named after Mac Morin.
