Music At The Gate

This was recorded by Seamus Ennis (see recording link above). I am surprised, in fact, that any tune (dance tune, at least) recorded by Seamus Ennis is not already in the database; it will not surprise me if it is already here under a different name and in a slightly different variant that managed to escape capture by my abc searches.

Re: Music At The Gate

The tune is pretty common-or-garden sounding - reminds me of several tunes without being any of them. But the turn is the same as that of Ah, Surely https://thesession.org/tunes/577

The version, played as a fling, on the Tap Room Trio album is a load of fun! Much different feel from the Ennis recording.

"… reminds me of several tunes without being any of them."

My thoughts exactly.

"… the turn is the same as that of Ah, Surely "

Thanks - I was trying to think of what tune it sounded like. It’s not identical, though - the phrase endings are different.
