Great tune!

Lunasa does a great job on this tune in B minor together with Terry “Cuz” Teahan’s. It’s also nice to play this tune in both keys in a row.

Gavin

Frankie Gavin is from Corrandulla Co. Galway.
( originally ). The family moed into town ( Galway City ) when Frankie was pup.

Pat

Pat, I posted the above bit of info into the McGoldrick tune Road to Corrandulla - hope you don’t mind me using your info.

Funnily enough, he doesn’t play fiddle or flute in the East Galway style.

Thoughts

I’ve been meaning to learn this tune. Franky plays this tune in d minor on the recording I have. Joanie madden plays it in b minor as noted above, so does Lunasa. Sounds pretty nice in A minor and g minor too.

Nice, sensibly sensitive Em/GM shift!

“Paddy Cronin’s”, X:2

Definitely composed by Frankie Gavin, but given to me as Paddy Cronin’s. Lovely reel none the less, this particular setting could also be slowed and swung into a barndance.

Re: Alice’s

Strange that nobody mentioned that it’s a stand-alone clip on the classic “Frankie Goes to Town.” Frankie plays flute as well as the fiddle on this CD.

Re: Alice’s

Now the links from “Frankie Goes to Town” and De Dannan’s “Jacket of Batteries” leads to the right tune.
