Lalabee

A quite different sound can be heard on Lalabee, a tender tune written by Austrian hurdy-gurdy player Matthias Loibner, who lent his disarmingly subtle playing to the track. The playing is exquisite, almost dreamlike. Sorry for the bars. Enjoy it!

I absolutely love that tune. I’ve been playing it non-stop since I heard it.

Matthias: Thank you so much for this! It’s such an evocative tune that I (and many of us, I’m sure) absolutely adore, by way of Brian Finnegan/Flook as well as your own original version from Zykado. If you don’t mind a wee query about it, what does ‘Lalabee’ refer to and would you like to share anything about the background of its composition?

It’s just, as you may guess, a lullaby. lalabee was - in my imagination - a bee who is a bit “lala” … so evoking funnny dreams. I’ve sung this song probably a thousand times for my boy, when he was little.
