Eight comments

This is a neat jig that Natalie McMaster uses to lead off on her live album on the barn-dance disc (2).

Nomenclature

Leo Rowsome recorded it on his LP “Ri Na Piobairi” [King of the Pipers] and gives this tune that same name.

It’s possible Natalie got it Johnny Doherty, who recorded it on “Bundle and Go” under the title given here.

This is a nice tune and worth the trouble to learn it.

Knights Of St. Patrick

Billy Pigg had a setting of this tune with a particularly beautiful ending to the A-part:

Re: The Knights Of Saint Patrick

Does anyone know the other, more usual, name of the middle tune in the set on the clip above (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNLWn0ouwT0) ? They have it as ‘Rose Flanagan’s’ but I know it under another title - ’cept I can’t remember what that title is called. Ah, the ravages of Anno Domini . . .

Re: The Knights of Saint Patrick

Sorry, can’t help with the missing name. But it is a very good tune so it’s now been posted here
https://thesession.org/tunes/18283
so maybe somebody else will get the alternative name.

Re: The Knights Of Saint Patrick

I consulted a pal, who has identified it as Reverend Bothers Jig, aka Brothers Gildas, aka Sonny Brogan’s Fancy, which I find is on this site at No. 1185 under this last title. (I agree with Nigel that it has a hint of the Paddy Fahey style about it, but I couldn’t find it in the Maria Holohan PF collection).
