Bill the Weaver’s?

The liner notes on Whistle Stop say that Din Tarrant’s and Bill the Weaver’s are the same tune, but this is the one Brian Hughes plays, not the other entry for Bill the Weaver’s.

As far as I know, Din Tarrant’s is usually played with the A and B parts switched. I entered it the way I heard it on Whistle Stop, though, because I think it sounds better.

Does anyone know the name of this one?

I don’t know the name of this tune, but I think it may be the coolest polka ever.

Recording

This one was recorded by Patrick Street, I think as one of the
” Walsh’ s Polkas".

Locha Cross

I’m sure I have several recordings of this tune. Only one I’ve found so far is by Kerry box-player Denis Doody. He called it "Locha Cross".
"Patrick Street" have a set of 3 polkas on their 3rd LP starting with "Walsh’s", but this tune is not one of them. Is there a "Walsh’s" set on one of the other albums?

Polka titles

Henrik Norbeck might be of some help here. He lists this under several different titles:
T:Lackagh Cross
T:Bill the Weaver’s
T:Bill the Weaver’s #2
T:Din Tarrant’s #1
T:Lacha Cross
T:Walsh’s Polka

Din Tarrant’s

Recorded by Julia & Billy Clifford as the first of two polkas called "Din Tarrant’s".

Bill The Weaver’s (polka)

No… this was Certainly on Patrick Street’s LP All In Good Time.

Julia Clifford’s version

This has a cool g instead of F in the B part (as written below), which makes it stand out. As usual, B part is played 1st - can’t figure out which is correct, but what does it matter anyway.

N: notes by Jackie Small from this lovely CD: "~ Julia Clifford was the source for the intricate polka ‘Bill the Weaver’s’. The title refers to Julia’s father who played the concert flute. The tune appears in Terry Moylan’s edition of the music of Johnny O’Leary with the title ‘Bill the Weaver’s (2)’; it appears as ‘Lacha Cross’ in the collection ‘The Big Session’, edited by David J. Taylor."

Re: Din Tarrant’s

I went to Gaelic Roots to hear the Sunday night concert, at Boston College 1997
https://www.discogs.com/Various-Boston-College-Irish-Studies-Program-Celebrates-Gaelic-Roots/release/3079897
And Johnny O’Leary played this Din Tarrant’s Polka along with another one which I still don’t know the name. The tunes are listed as the Lonesome Polkas on the Gaelic Roots Cd for that year.

I just played an album on WOMR this past Monday the 23rd 2020 and finally had a name for
1st of Lonesome Polkas. The album was Mighty Session! Kells Music 1997
Track #4
