‘Old’ Willie Hunter was a Shetland fiddler born in Billister, Nesting, where he also spent his twilight years. He also composed some tunes still played: “Da Nort Rodd” and “Simon’s Wart”. He was a founding member of the Shetland Folk Society band (‘Da Forty Fiddlers’), and was the father of ‘Young Willie’ - Willie Hunter - the celebrated fiddler. Ronnie Cooper would accompany Young Willie Hunter, and they were also both in The Hamefarers dance band.
