From The Legacy Of The Scottish Fiddle, Vol. 2. Who Wrote it.
It’s a very old tune better known as "Muirland Willie" ("Measure" is surely a mistake?). The song goes back to the 17th century and the tune was known in England in 1667 (as "The Northern Lass", and for a song called "Betty Maddocks, the Fair Maid of Doncaster").
It came up on YouTube as Muirland Measure. Fixed it up.
Odd - perhaps it’s the name given to the set. I might have the LP, but it will be up in the attic, and I can’t find the energy to go up there just now. Maybe later!
