Da Guizer’s, X:2
… and with a suggested chord sequence.
This tune (sans chords) is given in ‘Da Mirrie Dancers’. Pub: Shetland Folk Society, 1970. Ed. Tom Anderson & Tom Georgeson. (Price ten shillings!).
Re: Da Guizer’s
Gideon Stove was a Shetland fiddler. At First Day, Jan 1, the village men would dress in black face and go out asking for treats. They were called Guizers. It was introduced to the contra dancers by Scottish musicians and has become a popular dance tune in the US.
