Glen Caladh Castle

Another Pipe March adapted for Fiddle. From the Ron Gonnela Fiddle & Pipe Favourites album. Who wrote it?

Re: Glen Caladh Castle

Composed by Pipe Major J B Robertson (1905-1988). Do you ever read the replies to your questions?

Glen Caladh Castle, X:2

This is the four part pipe setting. The printed version I have attributes this to PM John MacLellan, but I have no clue whether this is correct or not.

Re: Glen Caladh Castle

Felefeber, it’s in Dale Brown’s "the bagpipe music of John McLellan 1875-1949" on page 61 and attributed to him (McLellan) so it looks like your printed source is correct.

Re: Glen Caladh Castle

DonaldK, you must have an interesting collection of pipe music! Thanks for the info.

Re: Glen Caladh Castle

Not as many books in my collection as I would like, Felefeber, but piping tune books are expensive.
However I can thoroughly recommend the two books by Dale Brown (on the tunes of John McLellan (Dunoon) and John MacColl) which are reasonably priced.

Re: Glen Caladh Castle

Yes, I seem to have been completely mixed up with this one. I even said in my response to "The Taking of Beaumont Hamel": "Written by by Pipe Major John ‘Jock’ McLellan of Dunoon…His most popular tunes include…"Glen Caladh Castle"… " Must be my age.
