Re: Miss Menzie Of Menzie’s

Aye, composed by William MacLeish and features in The Athole Collection. It also appears in a collection by Duncan McKercher (1796 - 1873), Fiddler/Composer of Inver, Perthshire. See https://www.heallan.com/mckercher.asp .

The only information I have found so far for a William MacLeish is of the parish of Menzie who married a lady by the name of Elspeth Paton on October 9th, 1730 in Clackmannanshire. Whether that’s your man is anyone’s guess at the moment.

The tune is actually titled Miss Menzies Of Menzies’ and may have something to do with Castle Menzies which features in the Outlander television series!
