Re: Ebb Wren’s Hornpipe

This is known in Scotland as "The West End Hornpipe". It was published in triplicate in ‘Honeyman’s Strathspey, Reel and Hornpipe Tutor’ (Edinburgh 1898) to portray three different styles of bowing hornpipes: Newcastle Style, Sand Dance Style and Sailor’s Style.

"Ebb Wren’s Hornpipe" corresponds to the Sailor’s style, "almost identical with that of bowing reels". The other styles can be seen on this page: https://thesession.org/tunes/7554
