Someone asked me for this. Composed by John Sheahan, this transcription is based on his playing. The story goes that he composed the tune in the middle of the night for a friend who had passed away. In the morning his brother came in and gave him a tip for a horse race. The name of the horse was The Feathered Gael; it won, he named the tune after the horse and gave his winnings to his friend’s widow.
Thank you so much Nigel.
I have only recently come across this tune and was attempting to transcribe it.
But I took the lazy way and tried “The Session” just in case.
And hey presto, there was your accurate transcription..!!
Much appreciation. https://youtu.be/4Jzb_XsNmns
