The Quarantine

This tune was written by a friend of mine, John Blandin, and brought to one of our local sessions, where it was loved by all. The inspiration was a Krishna Das kirtan chant. It was written during self-isolation during the Covid19 pandemic, hence the name.

Re: The Quarantine

Although you’ve got it in 6/8, you’ve barred (grouped) the notes as if it’s in 3/4. Is it a jig or a waltz?

The Quarantine, X:2

Apologies for leading my friends astray - my ABC newbie status showed in the ABC version I shared with them. This should correct the absence of barred eighth notes and includes other small changes.

Re: The Quarantine

Where is John Blandin from? Is he in a group? Contra dance or otherwise.

Re: The Quarantine

A fine tune JB.

My compliments to Mr. Blandin. Couldn’t resist dropping it to Dm and arranging it for guitar in DADGAD.

But what are you doing in a session these days? Stay safe; the world needs all the traditional players we have.

Re: The Quarantine

A very “infectious” tune to have emerged from the plague and the quarantine. Some challenging fingering to fit it onto a 5 string banjo fretboard, but well worth it. A bunch of us here in Vermont are enjoying playing it.
